The blade, original un-cut length with original signature and one hole in the nakago (tang) and carved blood groove. Original, Edo period tsuka with silk wrapping and fittings and shakudo menuki of shells and fuchi/kashira of nanako and insects. A shakudo (gold/copper alloy) matching kozuka and kogai with carved dragons and Buddhist sword fit into the pockets of the saya (scabbard) which is decorated with gold lacquer floral and bird motif. Scabbard missing koiguchi (opening fittings) and Kurigata (belt loop). Tsuba being hand carved in soft metal – likely shakudo - depicting a Japanese legend motif. A complete and matching sword with fittings. Very good condition for the age. This item is offered with reserve.
